Remember to visit Allonby,
watch the windsurfers or stroll along the shoreline between there and Maryport
and feast on the myriad of
flowers. Enjoy fish and chips on Maryport harbour, watching the boats come
in on the tide.
Walk over St. Bee's Head to
the hidden Fleswick Beach. Admire the unspoiled older parts of
Whitehaven, Workington, Maryport
and Victorian Silloth.
Spend a day on Hadrian's Wall.
Visit the famous Blacksmith's at Gretna Green.
The Lake
District is at your door. The Northwestern Lakes are
very
quiet compared to Coniston and Windermere,
with
much less traffic and no powerboats. You can walk round Buttermere in an
afternoon,
stroll
from Scale Hill to the bottom of Crummock Water for a stunning view,
drive
along the side of Wastwater and be in awe of the fells opposite..... the
list is endless!

The childhood home of the famous Lakes
Poet William Wordsworth
is on the main street in Cockermouth.
Now a National Trust property,
it is open to the public: the start of
a trail which takes you
to later homes in Grasmere and Rydal,
and the springtime 'host
of golden daffodils'
The sun rises over the
mountains and sets over the Solway
(Scotland and the Isle
of Man)
... a photographer's dream!

Die westlichen Seen und
